1. Balchik is beautiful
Balchik is situated 30 kilometres away from the third largest city in the country – Varna. This means that the drive there from Varna`s airport is not very long and you can reach Balchik through picturesque roads.
The town offers a rare combination of sea, steep streets and hills – this is why it is best if you visit it with a rental car. For many years, because of its white rocks, the town was called “White”. If you decide to sail (there are many options for this) this will open a beautiful view of the town, especially at sunset.
The main attraction in Balchik is the Palace of Queen Marie with its marvelous botanical gardens. Once you decide to visit it, please be careful with the parking, as there are specific restrictions for this area.
2. Things to do in Balchik
You can visit the Historical museum which holds a diverse collection of remnants from excavations which dates back to the 3rd century BC. This was discovered in 2007 during the construction of a hotel.
Among other activities you can also visit the town`s Art Gallery. With its more than 1500 pieces of art it is interesting and attractive to the tourists. In town there is an Ethnographic Museum which represents the culture of Bulgaria and this region.
We should warn you that Balchik beach is not one of the best. In case your main purpose is sunbathing you can drive to the nearby resort – Albena.
